The track season has come and gone for the West Side Pirates. Although things didn’t quite turn out for the boys’ team, they still did exceptionally well by placing third at state and bringing another trophy home.
The girls also did really well by placing fourth and they were able to bring home a trophy as well, for the second year in a row.
“Our girls did fantastically,” said Coach Amanda Hansen. “We were the smallest team this year that won a trophy. But though we are little, we are fierce. We had several surprise performances to propel us to our fourth-place finish.
“Cherise Alder scored in the long jump. Lauren Porter scored in both the shotput and the discus. Our 4×100 team pulled out a fifth-place finish. Kelsey Clawson and Sydney Blair both broke school records.
