Five arrested in crime spree

December 13, 2011

Assistant editor

Three Franklin County residents associated with a recent crime spree in Idaho and Utah are incarcerated and court proceedings have begun.

Hector Diaz, 20, of Franklin, waived a preliminary hearing on Dec. 2, and was bound over to district court on three felony grand theft charges, according to Franklin County Prosecutor Todd Garbett.

He told The Preston Citizen that Jose Padilla, 18, of Preston, was granted a continuance for his preliminary hearing because he switched attorneys just prior to Dec. 2. His preliminary hearing is now set for Jan. 6.
