A plan presented to Franklin City Council last week for a memorial park was put on hold, pending future review by council members.

Jake Young, representing former Franklin resident Warren Robinson, explained that Robinson was donating property at 100 S. 300 E. to the city to be used as a city park, which would include an amphitheater, pathways and a rose garden. Plan images included a parking area, a rose garden and a memorial site, to honor former residents who had served in civic government, armed services, church callings or have given community service.

In addition to the property, Young said Robinson would also donate up to $50,000 for the construction of the park.

Young asked that the city provide electricity and water to the site and maintain the facility once it is finished. “This would be a memorial to those who had served in the past, including his (Robinson’s) father, who was a former mayor of Franklin,” Young said.
