Preston lost 63-49 to Blackfoot on Thursday in its final regular season game. The Indians played well, scoring first and leading in the first half. It was 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Blackfoot took the lead in the second and Preston trailed 26-22 to start the third.
Though they were unable to regain the lead, the Indians didn’t give up and stayed close in the third quarter. They tied the game 41-41 just one minute into the fourth, but couldn’t maintain the momentum and were down by five with four minutes left. Unfortunately, their shots wouldn’t fall and they had to foul, giving Blackfoot an ever-widening lead in the final minutes of the game.
“We played a valiant game,” said Coach Belinda Taylor. “We out-rebounded Blackfoot 35 to 31 with Katie Call having 11 rebounds and Shania Carlisle having 10. Anna White led with five assists of our 12 as we shared the ball and looked for good scoring opportunities.
