‘Buffalo Coat’ up for discussion at library

“Buffalo Coat,” considered by many to be a classic of Northwestern U.S. literature, is the book up for discussion at the next “Let’s Talk About It” program at the Larsen-Sant Library in Preston.

The discussion will be Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.

Copies of the book by are available for checkout now at the library.

Author Carol Ryrie Brink was the Newbery Award winner for outstanding book of children’s literature n 1936.

This title is her first adult novel and appeared for several weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Buffalo Coat recounts the tale of three physicians who came to Moscow, Idaho, renamed Opportunity in the book.

It is set in the 1890s and they were seeking success and fortune in the town that had a name evoking potential and promise. But each of the three’s lives ended tragically.
