The West Side Pirates boys basketball team played Bear Lake Saturday and lost a close game 45-40.
The Pirates led for most of the contest, holding a six-point lead in the third quarter. But after Porter Wallentine, a four-year starter for Bear Lake, scored a couple of three-pointers, Bear Lake stole the victory. The Pirates only trailed by one point in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t hold and Bear Lake gained the lead.
The Pirates struggled to make free throws, only making six out of 14. Tate Fuller led the Pirates in points making 14, while Jaxon Smart contributed 13 points.
Head coach Brown commented on the game saying, “I am disappointed that we lost. I thought we had our chance, but Bear Lake’s a tough place to play.”
The Pirates also played the Malad Dragons on Wednesday, winning in a spectacular performance with a final score of 53 – 45.
