The PHS girls defeated visiting Bear Lake on Friday, Jan. 11. The 49-37 victory was mostly due to an impressive fourth quarter push by Preston where they outscored the Bears 20-9.
The Indians started off a bit slow, scoring just seven points in the first quarter and allowing 12. But it was the only quarter the Bears scored in the double digits. Preston had a good second quarter and nearly tied it up before heading to the locker room.

Preston’s Brielle Knapp, left, and Hannah Roberts battle for a rebound against Bear Lake’s Shania Bateman on Friday night.
With the score 21-20 for the Bears, neither team had much success in the third quarter. The Indians were able to squeeze out a one-point lead. Numerous turnovers plagued the Bears, limiting their opportunities and killing any momentum they tried to build. The frustration of the Bear Lake players was evident and resulted in a technical foul when Keena Rudd shoved Anna White after White stole the ball from her in the fourth. White had five of Preston’s 20 steals.
