The Preston Indians boys basketball team started off the year with three games. The first was on the road at Burley and the next two at home against West Side and Pocatello. The results were mixed with a loss to Burley, but wins over the Pirates and Pocatello, bringing their season record to 5-5, 1-2 in district.
It was a good night for Preston on Saturday, as they defeated district rival Pocatello 67-61 in a solid fourth-quarter effort.
Pocatello had a two-point advantage at the end of the first quarter but couldn’t hang on to it in the second when Preston took the lead by two at the half. Unfortunately Preston couldn’t maintain momentum after the break and allowed Poky to regain the lead. They trailed by six to start the fourth quarter and that increased to seven before they rallied.

Preston’s Taylor Smellie calls for a time-out after grabbing the ball during the cross-county rivalry game with West Side. Pirate Dylan Turnbow looks on. The Indians won the game 67-61.
