The Preston Elks Lodge has been a beehive of activity this past week, as volunteers gathered at the lodge to put Christmas boxes together for an estimated 850 families who need a helping hand during the holidays.
Jenny Hollingsworth and Krysta Christensen coordinate the event, and both said they are over-whelmed at the response they have had this year.

Young men and young women showed up to sort through canned items, then placed them in boxes to be sealed and ready for delivery.
“We began something new this year,” said Hollingsworth. “Although schools, individuals, churches, civic and food companies had always donated food to this drive, we felt in order to bring the entire community into play, we would write letters to local businesses to give them an opportunity to show their support. All of them have responded with enthusiasm.”
