Preston City, Franklin County, state and federal offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in celebration of the New Year’s holiday.
The post office plans to operate on a reduced schedule on Monday, Dec. 31. The lobby will be open from 8 a.m.-noon. Postmaster Val Porter said full delivery will be made that day. The post office reopen on a regular schedule on Jan. 2.
The Franklin County Landfill will be open on Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The facility will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, and garbage normally collected that day will be picked up on Wednesday. The landfill will operate on a regular schedule on Jan. 2.

There will be no trash collection in Preston City on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Garbage regularly picked up that day will be gathered on Wednesday, Jan. 2, according to city officials.
Franklin County offices will be open until 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. Preston City offices will close at 1 p.m. that day. Both entities will open on a normal schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The University of Idaho Extension office and the USDA Service Center will close on Jan. 1 and reopen the next day.
The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center will be open on Monday, Dec. 31. They will also be open on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Public schools in the West Side and Preston School districts closed after classes on Thursday, Dec. 20. Both districts will remain closed through Jan. 1 for the Christmas break. Classes will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
