Preston’s Police Chief Val Sparrow has tendered his resignation to the city council, effective immediately.
Mayor F. Lee Hendrickson said Sparrow told him and the council that after 26 years in law enforcement it was time to try something different.
“We are thankful to Sparrow for his years of service to Preston City as police chief. He has provided good service to the community during his tenure. We all wish him well in his new endeavors,” the mayor said.
