Youngsters who submitted letters to Santa’s special mailbox at the Larsen-Sant Library earlier his month had them retrieved by some of his special helpers.

The Preston High School Key Club, which is the youth arm of the Kiwanis organization, came and got the letters and gave them to the Jolly Old Elf.

Santa came to Preston on Saturday, Dec. 8, and visited with the children at the library about their Christmas wants and wishes.

“We started it when there was the Old Christmas program at the Franklin County Medical Center,” said Nelda White, who is helping Santa with the letter project. “When we got a Key Club going seven or eight years ago, we decided it would be a natural as a service project. The kids just love it. They’re waiting for when they can write the letters.”

Left to right, Key Club members Emily Rounds, Braxton Moffett and Tori Groll pull letters written to Santa and deliver them to him as part of the North Pole Express.
