CLIFTON – A 77-year-old Clifton woman was struck by a vehicle Monday evening on the West Side Highway in Clifton and life-flighted to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Helen Ralphs was in the northbound lane of the highway near Papa Jay’s Convenience store at 5: 30 p.m. when she was hit, according to Franklin county sheriff’s Deputy Kip Larsen, the investigating officer.
Molly Landon, 24, Chubbuck, was northbound on the highway and said she saw something on the road. She did not see Ralphs until she became visible in the headlights. She braked hard before impact, said Larsen.
The Idaho State Journal reported Ralphs was in good condition on Wednesday morning in the Pocatello hospital. Ralphs was transported by ground ambulance to Franklin County Medical Center and then flown to PMC.
Larsen said no citations have been issued and added excess speed was not a factor. The Idaho State Police was called to the scene for reconstruction of the accident, which is still under investigation.
