Man sentenced in poaching case

A county resident has pled guilty in Magistrate Court in Franklin County to two counts of unlawful taking of game animals, two counts of wasteful destruction of wildlife and one count of discharging a firearm inside Preston City limits.

Bruce Jay Haslam was fined $503 for unlawful taking of wildlife and $500 for wasteful destruction. He was also sentenced to 180 days in jail on each of two counts, which was suspended, according to court records. There was no jail sentence or fine on discharging a firearm inside city limits.
