The Preston Rotary Christmas Choir will present its 80th annual concert this Sunday. It will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the LDS chapel, 213 S. 200 E.
Co-director Carl Hoffman said this year is the 80th anniversary of continual concerts by the choir. The very first conductor of the choir was Harold Christensen, he said.
This year Karla Gunderson will be a co-director. She takes the place of Anna Beth Olson who is serving an LDS mission with her husband.
Hoffman and Gunderson invite all county residents to attend the concert.
“This year’s concert will feature a 20-voice children’s choir conducted by Jennifer Seamons, in addition to the 55 people in the regular choir,” said Hoffman. “We will also feature a young men’s quartet and a cellist, Whitney Groll.
“The theme of this year’s concert is, ‘Christmas in a Small Town’ and we will feature music from small communities throughout the world. We will have some numbers from the 13th Century and they will be French carols.”
