The Grand Lighted Parade, the highlight of the Preston Festival of Lights, kicked off the holiday weekend with a spectacular fireworks show before it started on Friday, Nov. 23. Activities concluded on Saturday, Nov. 24.
The two nights attracted large crowds along State Street to watch the dazzling fireworks show produced by Jared Jensen and see the bright, lighted floats move slowly along.
City Council member Saundra Hubbard complimented Jensen’s show. “He did a fabulous job; we sure appreciate what he did,” she said.

Saturday evening Susan West, this year’s Queen of Lights, enjoyed a cold ride on a lighted sleigh with her husband, Ralph, who was named as this year’s Lamp Lighter.
Everyone was a winner at the Kids Day Parade and Mindy Daley, who oversaw the event, gave all the participants a gift and named each entry a winner in a different category.
Santa Claus came and gave out over 200 oranges and coloring books. He was handed wish lists by children eager for Christmas gifts.
