The holiday season seems to come earlier every year. Even before Halloween, the stores rush to put up their holiday merchandise, and television commercials tout all of the great items that are a must for this year.
Society seems to encourage us to spend, spend, spend especially during this time of year. Let’s not forget, however, that stores and commercials want to you spend as much money as possible, whether you can afford it or not.
It is easy to get caught up in this attitude and not only forget the true meaning of the holidays, but also go into debt that takes the rest of the year to pay off. A few simple steps can help you ensure a great holiday without spending too much.
Create a realistic holiday budget. Look over your monthly income and expenses to figure out how much you can realistically spend for the holidays without going into debt.
