Stetson Robbins looks like every other 12-year-old at Beutler Middle School in Dayton. But he is tough as nails when he climbs on the back of mini bulls in competition. The sixth grader just competed in the Sixth Annual Northwest Miniature Bull Riding finals in Helena, Mt., Nov. 1, 2 and 3.
The son of Jeff and Shannon Robbins just started riding in May, the second half of the season, and still won enough points to qualify for the finals. Bull riders had to place well in both the summer and winter series to qualify.
“Stetson started riding mini bulls at age 11 in the Idaho circuit this past May. Chad Casperson, of Bancroft, organized the Idaho Mini Bull Riding circuit. Stetson started late this year and rode in the summer series. There is also a winter series which he missed out on.
