Several merchants have stepped up to offer prize incentives for those who enter floats in this year’s Grand Lighted Parade scheduled next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24.
Stokes MarketPlace has donated a $500 shopping spree to be divided among winning entries, according to Brad Wall, parade chair. In addition to that, Mis Amores Restaurant has donated $100 in gift certificates and Big J’s has given $50 in certificates, he added.
Wall said there is no charge for parade entries, but people should contact him so he can get an idea of who’s coming and how many entries. This will allow Wall to pace the lineup.
“We will start lining up at 5:30 p.m. and start the parade immediately after the scheduled fireworks,” Wall said. “
Wall said anyone can enter the parade. “We are encouraging families, neighborhood groups, civic clubs and businesses,” he said.
Wall said there are only a few rules for entries. All floats must have decorative lights. Participants must sign a waiver of liability.
