The Idaho Foodbank is calling for turkey donations for the holidays to help families who struggle to put food on the table.
While the Eastern Idaho Foodbank has a goal of acquiring a minimum of 11,000 turkeys, local foodbank representative Brenda Hover said they are trying to gather around 230 turkeys for families in Franklin County.
Hover said they generally help up to 180 families on a monthly basis, but during the holidays that number goes up.
“Last year we gave away 226 turkeys to families in the area,” Hover said. “We want every family to have an enjoyable holiday and donations like this will really help.”
The turkeys can be delivered to Hover’s home at 166 E. Oneida, Preston, or if someone has more than one, they can be delivered to the new food pantry built on the north side of the Preston City Archery Building. Donors with turkeys should contact Hover so she can get them where they need to be stored.
