Preston School officials would like students waiting for buses before school to line 12 feet behind where the bus can pull in.
“If students are standing waiting for the bus, the driver will pull up and give them a hand signal when to cross to get on the bus, said PHS Vice Principal Rik Brodock. “The bus driver is trained to look both directions and will make sure it is safe to cross the street.”
When the bus pulls up the driver will be 12 feet from the students. When they leave the bus they will leave as a group and the students need to watch the red lights on the bus before they cross the street.
“We have a lot of little kids that are hard to see if they are too close to the bus,” Brodock said. “Our number one priority is student safety,” he said.
