Preston played Bonneville on last Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Bonneville.

“It was the Bees’ senior night and they were graduating six seniors,” said head coach Bridgett Knapp. “We started off really strong. We came out defensively and played better than we have.

“Lexi Chatterly and Whitney Parker had some amazing defensive plays.”

Preston won the first game, but lost the following three.

West Side’s John O’Brien leaps over an Aberdeen player Friday night. McCoy Roberts, 28, is out in front providing protection. The Pirates won the game and are going to state.

“But we struggled on serve-receive more than we have in a while,” said Knapp. “The first set was an important win mentally for us. onneville is a very strong team and for us to come out and win a set helps our confidence.”

This week the Indians play in the district tournament at Pocatello High School on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20.

“We will play at 6 p.m. on Friday night and the tournament will continue Saturday morning,” said Knapp. “We are excited coming into district. We feel that we have been getting better and better each week and going into district we hope to be peaking at the right time.”
