The Preston boys soccer team fell short of another trip to state by one goal in a shoot out on Saturday, Oct. 13, against Century.
For the second time in three seasons, Preston lost to Century in a shoot out with a spot to the 4A state tournament on the line. This time the teams were battling for second place and the game remained scoreless throughout regulation play and two 10-minute overtimes despite Preston outshooting Century 19-7.
Preston went first when the match went to a shoot out, and Leon Landes, Colby Hendrickson, Landon Broadhead, Jorge Sanchez and Eli Ramirez all converted their PKs. Sanchez’s shot was deflected by the keeper off the post and into the net. Zac Roper was up sixth for the Indians and the keeper made a diving stop. The Diamondbacks put their final kick in, giving them the victory.
