The Indian girl’s soccer team traveled to Shelley on Oct. 3 where they couldn’t quite finish and ended up with a 2-2 tie.
Kenidee Hyde gave Preston a 1-0 lead 13 minutes in on a throughball from Katie Call, but Shelley got off a good shot at the 29 minute mark to tie it up. Hyde scored again this time on a throughball from Olivia Wheatly six minutes later. But a penalty kick by the Russets in the second half tied the score again.
“A little bit of a letdown after Tuesday,” said Coach Brandon Lyon. “It was our fifth game in eight days and after Tuesday’s big win that can be expected. We still did some good things and created a few opportunities.
“We held them to only three shots but they made one count and then got a penalty kick in the second half to tie the game.”
Tuesday Preston beat Blackfoot 4-0 and secured the second place seed in the district and a first round bye. Lacee Rallison earned the shutout.
“It was a really strong game for us,” said Lyon. “The girls really controlled the game from start to finish, controlling the ball well.”
