The West Side Pirates pulled away from host Bear Lake in the second half on Friday night, beating the Bears 38-14.
The first half was rough for the Pirates but they led at the end of the second quarter 14–0. On the kickoff in the third quarter Bear Lake caught the ball and ran back for a touchdown.
The Pirates retaliated by keeping the Bears at bay for the rest of the night.
Junior Coby Roholt had an exceptional night until his shoulder was dislocated. The extent of his injury in unknown.
Senior Dylan Turnbow said, “We came out the opening drive and scored so that got the momentum going for us, but they still played us really tough.
“They were right with us until the third quarter when we had a drive that took up most of the quarter. I think that drive, which ended in a touchdown, wore them down a little bit so we were able to take control from there.”
