It was a fast day for running at Ross Park in Pocatello at the Century Invitational on Friday.
Hosted by district rival Century High, multiple Preston runners turned in their fastest times yet this season. Both girls’ and boys’ teams locked up second place. 5A Idaho Falls took first in team scores for both the boys and girls.
The Preston girls were led by junior Caitlin Elgan who placed fourth with a time of 20:35. Whitney Groll immediately followed with fifth place and a time of 20:59. Aunika Crowther placed seventh at 21:25 and Kylee Wakley was 11th with a time of 21:52. Tori Groll rounded out the scoring with 12th place.
Senior Ryden Crowther cruised to first place in the boys’ race with 16:31, his fastest time yet this season. Cameron Dietrich came in eighth and broke the 18-minute barrier with a time of 17:46. Kendon Harrison placed 12th at 18:00 and Ephriam Sharp took 16th at 18:07. Jordan Wright followed in 18th place.
Preston’s next competition will be the huge Bob Firman Classic held in the Boise area this Saturday.
