DAYTON – The West Side Pirate football team played Layton Christian Academy on Friday in a Homecoming game, utterly destroying their opponents. The score was 33-0 for the Pirates.
The game was enjoyable to watch after two previous losses. In the first quarter the Pirates got close to the end zone, but failed to obtain a first down and punted to the Layton Christian Eagles. The Eagles also failed to get a first down. At the end of the quarter the score was 0–0.
Before a minute had even passed in the second stanza, senior McCoy Roberts made the first Pirate touchdown. Trevor Montes, a junior quarterback, also ran in the second touchdown. The second quarter ended and the halftime score was 13–0. The first big play of the third quarter featured Roberts running the ball 50 yards downfield. Roberts also scored the next touchdown, leaving the third quarter score at 20–0.
In the fourth, West Side continued its strong play, scoring two more touchdowns, one by senior Jon O’Brien and another by senior Tate Fuller.
