The Indian girls defeated visiting Rigby on Thursday, Sept. 6. As of this year Rigby is part of Preston’s district so the 1-0 victory meant more than usual.
Junior defender Tess Hobbs put the Indians on top in the 31st minute from the middle of the field near the top of the penalty box when she booted in a pass from Whitney Alder.
“Possession-wise, we played well,” Coach Brandon Lyon said. “We out shot them 20-1, but it was a struggle for us in the final third. At times we struggled setting up our forwards in good spots to finish, and when we did, our finishing was just off.”
Defensively Preston shut Rigby down. The Trojans were able to get off a few shots but none of them were on frame giving keeper Lacee Rallison little to do in the shutout.
Century came to town and broke Preston’s 5-0 winning streak with a 2-0 win on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
