How many Preston mothers of a growing family would consider training and competing in an ironman competition?
Jeannine Groll turned 40 years old this year recently and competed in an ironman competition to celebrate the milestone. She watched her father do it at 62 years old in a Galveston, Texas, ironman competition.
Her father, Estes Lawton, a chemical engineer, trained by the book, never missed a workout. He lost a hundred pounds on an eating program Jeannine developed and a workout schedule she prepared to help him achieve his goal. When the time came, she went to Texas to watch him attempt the tough three event challenge in the grueling heat and humidity of Texas and swimming in saltwater battling waves of the ocean.
