The Preston Indians got thumped badly on the opening night of high school football in southeast Idaho.
The Bear River Bears, of Tremonton, handed new Preston Coach Nick Hyde a 44-6 setback on the Indians’ home field.
Coach Hyde told The Citizen on Saturday despite the lopsided score his team had some very positive things come from the game. “But overall we found out we have a lot of work to do,” he said.
The Indians just couldn’t stop the air attack from the Bears and tried several different defensive combinations. But nothing seemed to work. Bears quarterback Kyle Zundel burned Preston as he passed for 281 yards and four touchdowns.
One bright spot was Preston’s defense holding Tremonton’s running game to a manageable level. Hyde said he’s got to concentrate on finding a pass defense that will work.
