“Preston rodeo is ranked 75 of 620 U.S. rodeos,” Doug Webb

Rodeo weekend went off without a hitch. The crowds were good all three nights with a near sell out Saturday. With some world class cowboys and cowgirls competing this year, it made for a good weekend of entertainment.
The highlight for many was rodeo clown Jeff Garner, whose stunts kept most fans laughing as he blew something up or just generally had fun entertaining everyone. Garner and announcer Zeb Bell traded jabs giving the comedy routine some spontaneity.
Rodeo Committee member Bruce Coburn was happy with this year’s efforts.
“I thought it was one of the best yet. We had some of the best cowboys we’ve ever had participate this year. The crowd got to see a lot of great cowboys perform this year. Sometimes that’s just the way things fall. I thought the audience was really into it.”
The McMillan riders were a hit with this year’s rodeo crowd.
“I heard a lot of good comments on the trick riders,” Coburn said.
“There is no way we could pull the rodeo off without all the volunteers and sponsors,” he said.
The City of Fun Carnival had hoards of people Thursday night with good crowds the two other nights.
Brad Wall, of the Preston Lions Club, said they fried 7,200 patties for people during the three days of the big weekend. He thought it may have been a record.
“It was pretty amazing! We appreciate the community support. It is one of the best feel good things I do every year,” he said. “We sold out all three nights.”
