Franklin County Medical Center’s proposed surgical suite expansion would include a basement covering 4,600 square feet and a main floor expansion of 8,000 square feet.
That’s according to Hospital Administrator Mike Andrus, who told The Citizen architectural plans drawn up in 2011 originally showed an 11,000 square foot addition.
The board of trustees, in its July meeting, discussed and reviewed those architectural construction proposals, drawings and cost estimates for the new surgical suite that would be on the northwest corner of the FCMC campus. The board wants to break ground in 2014 for the $5 million project.
“Next steps will be to update the 2011 drawings to portray the new concept, update the related cost estimates, and outline a fundraising plan to raise $1 million in donations for the project,” Andrus said.
