FRANKLIN – Franklin City met in a brief meeting last week where they voted to accept Joyce Bayles as a new city council member, assuming the seat previously held by Meagan Wilson.
Wilson resigned due to health reasons. Bayles will be sworn in during the August council meeting.
The council agreed to place two speed signs on Maple Creek Road in hopes of controlling speed within the city limits. The city will be in contact with the sheriff’s office to ask for increased county patrol in the area.
During last month’s meeting, county commissioners and state DEQ members had asked Franklin to reconsider their decision to not adopt a county-wide air quality ordinance. That request had been tabled until the July meeting. Due to a lack of a motion, the decision will remain as previously voted.
Several comments concerning Idaho Days were heard, with the consensus that the celebration had been successful.
