Debbie Wardell, former postmaster of Dayton, has taken a new job as postmaster of McCammon. The U.S. Postal Service has been making several changes in order to cut down costs and Debbie has taken this position because it has been proposed that the Dayton office will be changed from an eight-hour day to a four-hour day. The same hourly change has been proposed for the Weston, Franklin and Clifton offices and for other smaller offices around the area.
The Preston office will remain unchanged and the McCammon office has been upgraded and it will most likely be over the Downey, Arimo and Lava Hot Springs offices. These changes are all supposed to take place over the next two years and it is probable that community meetings will be held about the matter.
Clair Thomas, Franklin Postmaster, is retiring this month and his office and the other small post offices will be run by postmaster replacements. The Weston Post Office has been running without a postmaster for almost four years with Vicky Nartker heading up the office and Chris White as the postmaster replacement.
