WESTON – The annual Weston Pioneer Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 21, in the Weston City Park.
“Weston is excited to celebrate its 101 years of being a city with this annual celebration,” said Mayor Camille Larsen.
She said festivities will start at 8 a.m. that day with a 5K run. “There will be great prizes, so register early with Jen Roberts by calling 747-3095,” said Larsen. “The parade will be at 9:30 a.m.”
Serge Benson will be honored as the Grand Marshall this year, according to the mayor.
“There will be the usual games, food and animal chases at the park. The airplane candy drop will be happening around 12:30 p.m. There will be baseball tournaments this year, starting on Friday night and finishing up on Saturday afternoon.”
Councilman Van Woodward said there will be a frisbee golf tournament at 5 p.m. in the city park and an old-fashioned shootout in front of Woodward’s Country Store at 7 p.m.
Larsen said the Rough Stock Band is coming back this year and will be performing in the park at 8 p.m., just before fireworks.
