What a more fitting time could there be to retire a flag than Independence Day, July 4.
This annual event sponsored by the Preston Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the area Boy Scouts will be held at 8 a.m. that day in the Benson Park.
There will be about 250 flags retired.
