Let your patriotic spirit come alive and prepare a speech for the Franklin County Theater Arts Committee’s first ever “What is Right With America” patriotic speech contest. The contest will be held at the Worm Creek Opera House on July 7, at noon.
“The reason we are letting the word out now is so people can start preparing their speeches,” said Karla Gunderson, a board member.
The council met last Saturday and decided to pursue the idea of a speech contest. It’s open to any age.
“We are hoping this will turn into an annual event,” Gunderson said.
We are just in the beginning stages of putting the contest together. More details will be forth coming, said Cecelie Costley, this year’s vice-president of the organization.
The council is currently preparing for the production of Disney’s “Milan Jr.” to be held June 22, 23 and 25 at the Worm Creek Opera House starting at 7 p.m. each night.
There will be more information released later, Costley said.
