Reed Swann at Shield Computing would like to warn Franklin County computer users of a computer scam they have seen recently that has frustrated some of their customers.

The scam starts with a phone call from someone saying they represent Microsoft customer service. They say your computer is sending a virus to your friends or business contacts with each e-mail.

“Although they may have already hacked into your computer, they want total access to your files to search for any personal data. Do not give credit card or banking information for any reason. No matter how legitimate the call may sound, it did not come from Microsoft; Microsoft will not call you!” Swann said.
