The West Side track team traveled to American Falls for the second time this season. Everyone expected the weather to be absolutely awful. Surprisingly, the track meet went very well and it was sunny for the most part until the very end.
Just as the girl’s 1600m had taken off, the rain started and turned to hail. As the girls finished, lightning struck across the sky causing them to call it quits for the meet.
There was quite the turnout for the track meet having a total of 13 teams show up. In the 1-A division North Gem, Rockland and Grace were on the docket. In the 2-A division there were West Side, Aberdeen, Malad, Soda Springs and North Fremont. In the 3-A division Bear Lake, Snake River, Marsh Valley and American Falls ran. And in the 4-A division there was Century.
Coach Hansen had this to say about their two main triple jumping girls: “It was a great day for us at the triple jump. Cherise Alder and Caitlyn Beckstead are two of our hardest-working girls, never missing practice and always willing to do any workout we coaches dream up.
