Franklin City Council listened to a proposal by county commissioner Scott Workman, to adopt a county-wide ordinance to set clean air guidelines. Workman told council the Department of Environmental Quality (Idaho DEQ) is wanting to set mandates for wood-burning stoves, to improve air quality. He said if the county doesn’t have a plan by December, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) could force a ban on wood-burning stoves, with the exception of those who have no other source of heat, or are struggling financially.
