Former Preston resident Jared Hess is waiting patiently to see if FOX will renew the Napoleon Dynamite cartoon after the first eight episodes.

The animated series is based on the hit movie filmed in Preston in 2004. Each episode deals with life around Napoleon, an awkward 16 year-old student at Preston High School.

Several people have commented on the good humor and lack of offensive material found in many of the cartoons that dominate today’s media. The animated series uses many recognizable buildings and scenery from around the city and parts of Franklin County.

“We had an awesome first season and the ratings have been great,” Hess said from his Utah home.

The Sunday night cartoon is sandwiched between The Simpson’s and Family Guy in Fox’s “Animation Domination.”
