Jeremy Scott Copeland, 34, Preston has been sentenced in District Court in Preston to four years fixed and six years indeterminate in the Idaho State Prison on charges of unlawful lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16.

Franklin County Prosecutor Todd Garbett told The Citizen previously he believes the 15 year-old victim was groomed to believe the sexual acts were consensual.

Copeland was also charged with one count of voyeurism, but that was dropped. He could also face additional jail time on similar charges in 1st District Court in Cache County involving the same female.

In an unrelated matter Judge Mitchell Brown sentenced Marvin E. Mains, Salt Lake City, to two years fixed and three years indeterminant in the Idaho State Penitentiary on attempted burglary charges at Mr. Cool, a heating and air-conditioning business near the Cub River turnoff on U.S. 91.

Franklin County prosecuting attorney Todd Garbett said Mains was originally charged with burglary, but pled guilty to an amended charge of attempted burglary.
