The 2001 Alumni basketball team regained the title on Saturday, March 17, after losing in the final round last year.
This year they played against the ‘93-’94 team and though the final score was 50-60, the game overall was close until the end of the second half when the ‘93-’94 team just ran out of steam.
The ‘93-’94 team started off with a slight point advantage which they extended 12-2 with 16 minutes left in the first half.
The ‘01 team chipped away at that lead and overcame it.
With eight minutes to go in the first half, ‘01 led 19-17 and just kept at it.
At the half the score was 22-28 and the ‘93-’94 team came out strong to start the half cutting the lead to 26-28 and even leading for a short time.
But ‘01 didn’t let up and pulled away for good as the minutes ticked by finishing the game 60-50.
The games were fairly well attended and 18 teams participated in the event with 1992 being the oldest team.
