Recently, Preston High School senior Regan Hyde traveled to Ontario, Ore., again. This time to meet with Treasure Valley Community College soccer coach to practice and ultimately sign a full-ride scholarship to play soccer and softball for the Chukars. A month prior, Hyde had visited the campus at the invitation of the softball coach, but unfortunately the soccer coach was out of town recruiting athletes in the Portland area.
Hyde comments, “It has always been my dream to play soccer at a college level, but never did I imagine being asked to play softball, too. It has been a real honor.” Hyde was first recognized by the NWWAC softball coach after participating in the Invitational NW Fast Pitch Tournament last summer in Centralia, Wash. She was ranked and awarded fourth of the top five out of 500 other girls for her skills and strength. She was also awarded a $500 SPARQ essay scholarship that was part of the program.
