The “ball hasn’t been dropped” by city officials regarding a request to lower speed limits near the Preston Golf Course on Highway 34.
In January a contingent of residents living near the area approached the Preston City Council requesting posted speeds be reduced from 55 miles per hour to 45 mph.
Residents of the area told the council at that meeting speed is a factor where a city street junctions with the highway.
But another compounding problem is that the highway curves at that point. Residents and visitors exiting the subdivision don’t have enough distance vision to see vehicles coming from the northeast and traveling towards town, officials agreed.
