Preston City has been awarded a $46,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help with design and implementation of a long-term plan to divert runoff in the northeast section of the community.
Derrick Sharp, of Whisper Mountain in Pocatello, has been working with the city for over a year on the grant-application process.
“Funding has been earmarked for this project that will help us with risk management, develop a remediation plan, and a long-term solution,” Sharp said. “This opens the door for the possibility of additional grant funding to help pay for whatever is necessary to correct the situation.”
The council authorized Mayor F. Lee Hendrickson to sign a contract with Whisper Mountain, pending a review by city attorney Clyde Nelson.
