On Friday, February 17, teachers in the Preston School District met for training on how to ensure interactions with students are kept at a professional level.
Idaho Education Association representative Maggie Calica sponsored the training given by Lewis Andrews on behalf of his consulting group, Hands of Integrity.
In the training, teachers discussed positive ways they can reach out to students. Superintendent Wilson shared his concerns about news reports from across the country and from across Idaho of abuse.
“The Preston School District wants to be proactive in setting clear lines of appropriate behavior so that our students are always in a safe environment when they are in our schools.
Our purpose in inviting the IEA to present this training was to open the door for discussions with teachers. We all want what is best for students. We urge everyone to be vigilant and keep their eyes open so that students and teachers are safe when they are in our schools.”
