Even though there’s still a little snow on the ground and its cold outside, Little League Baseball sign-ups for boys 7-14 years old will begin on Monday, Feb. 20.

Sign-up forms are available at Preston City offices and at Big J Burgers in Preston. The forms must be returned to the city by 5 p.m., March 30, according to Curtis Priestley, director of the city’s recreation baseball program.

“In order to make things be more competitive this year we are going to develop teams from a draft system for boys aged 9 14,” said Priestley.

“We are trying to recruit coaches as soon as possible in order to make the draft process go a lot smoother,” said Priestley. “Anyone interested in coaching baseball this year should contact me by March 4 so we can get a date set for the draft and try-outs.”

He said the coach-pitch teams for 7-8 year olds will still be comprised by neighborhoods as much as possible.

Priestley can be contacted by calling 317-6469 or 852-4002.

The sign-up period for T-ball and girl’s softball will be announced in the near future.
