Prevention – Work done by city crews mitigate flood problem

Work done by city crews this summer to prevent flooding in the northeast section of the city paid off last week when record rainfall and frozen ground led to several isolated water problems in the county.

Last winter several residents living near the Preston Golf Course experienced flooding when heavy snows melted and water had no way to escape.

A local irrigation company, the summer before, filled in decades-old canals after installing gravity-feed underground pipe to carry irrigation water.  For the full story subscribe to The Preston Citizen: in print or online.
