DAYTON – West Side’s first-year head volleyball coach Jerri Obrien has been named 2A Volleyball Coach of the Year by the Idaho State Coach’s Association.
Obrien took the Pirates to the state championships and West Side won the state crown several week’s ago.
“It is an honor to be recognized-especially my first year as a varsity coach. West Side has always had a talented and respected volleyball program and you just hope as a new coach that you can help continue that tradition,” she told The Citizen.
“I owe most of the award to my team. They are a special group of girls. They have set a high standard for future teams to live up to. I owe the rest of the award to my assistant coaches and to my player’s parents for the support and help from them throughout the season.”
Obrien said she wants to give a special thanks to her husband and family for the love and support she has received from them during this past year.
“I also want to thank Launa Moser for teaching me what I know about volleyball and being the example of what a coach should be,” she said.
